COIMBATORE: The door-to-door verification of electoral rolls initiated by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadres in Coimbatore district on Friday has virtually become a non-starter with the details furnished by the district authorities being inadequate. Pongalur N. Palanisamy, former Minister and the District Secretary of the DMK, and M. Shanmugham, the district-in-charge of the party, told presspersons that the Election Commission had ordered that the political parties should be given copies of the application forms given for inclusion. "However, what we got from the district administration was the forms without the address and age of the persons who are supposed to have given applications for inclusion. How are we supposed to verify the electoral rolls without these two." They said that when it was represented to the district administration, they were assured of some other copy tomorrow. However, they did begin the exercise in Sulur area of Palladam Assembly Constituency.
