No breakthrough yet in double murder case

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The city police are yet to arrest the culprits involved in the murder of two persons in Basaveshwaranagar police station limits on Wednesday.

An armed gang had hacked to death G. Ramakrishnappa (55), a kerosene dealer, and his son, Naveen (22), in full public view.

The police have formed two teams, one led by the Basaveshwaranagar police inspector, Shivalinge Gowda, and other by the Vijayanagar police inspector, Durgaiah. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), K.V. Sharath Chandra, has been asked to supervise the work of the police teams.

Talking to The Hindu, Mr. Sharath Chandra said the police were on the lookout for the enemies of the victims, who were also moneylenders. The culprits, who had business rivalry with the victims, would be caught soon, he said.

On Thursday, the police took some persons into custody and questioned them. A police team that had gone to Shimoga on Thursday could not get much information, he said.
