Vice-Principal's office ransacked

NEW DELHI: Upset over a comment allegedly made by the Kirori Mal College Vice-Principal, Virendra Kumar, members of the Manipuri Students' Association on Friday barged into his office and ransacked the place. The students were protesting against a news report that said the Vice-Principal had laid down a dress code for the North-East girls.

Though Mr. Kumar denied making the comments and said he had been misquoted, the students' organisation protested outside the college and later barged into his office and broke some office equipment.

The students dispersed later after Mr. Kumar came over and discussed the matter with them. The day also saw the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) take out a silent protest march from the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) office to the Lieutenant-Governor's residence in protest against the recent cases of harassment of college students.
