Dharnas planned before TRS Ministers' houses

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Aikya Vedika has decided to stage dharnas before the houses of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Ministers if they did not resign their posts by June 30.

The decision was taken at the executive meeting of the vedika on Friday. Briefing reporters about the outcome of the meeting, the vedika president, Keshav Rao Jadhav, and general secretary, T. Hanumandlu, said the TRS was formed with the specific objective of striving for statehood for Telangana but the party hankered after power in the post-election scenario.

The executive also decided to organise a padayatra from Cherial to Warangal between June 19 and 24 demanding Godavari water for the chronic drought prone area of Jangaon. A public meeting will be organised at Warangal on June 24, which will be addressed by State and national level leaders.

They said the noted environmentalist, Medha Patkar, would be invited to address a seminar on irrigation projects for Telangana contemplated by the State Government. It will be held in the last week of June.
