TOP-NOTCH: Ashwani Sudyal, who was presented the Sword of Honour and Gold Medal, with his parents after the passing out parade at IMA in Dehra Dun on Saturday.
DEHRA DUN: Five hundred and ninety-three Gentlemen Cadets including ten foreigners marched past the portals of the elite Indian Military Academy here on Saturday to become officers.
Addressing the Gentlemen Cadets after reviewing a magnificent Passing Out Parade, the Navy Chief, Admiral Arun Prakash, called upon them to always be ready to face hardships, loneliness and danger to enjoy the immense love, respect and confidence reposed in them by the nation. "You will be commanding the finest men and can win their recognition by always displaying leadership qualities that include physical courage, personal example, moral courage and professional knowledge. I am sure that the rigorous training imparted in the Academy would keep you well equipped to meet the coming challenges," he said.
Loud cheers went up as the Admiral awarded the Sword of Honour and Gold Medal to the best all-round Gentleman Cadet Ashwani Sudyal. The Silver Medal for standing second in the 116th Regular Course went to Battalion Under Officer Gurcharan Bais. The Bronze Medal went to Academy Cadet Adjutant Himanshu Awasthi.
The Silver Medal for standing first in the 99th Technical Graduates Course went to Junior Under Officer Gaurav Chaudhary. The Silver Medal for standing first in the TES-05 Course was awarded to Junior Under Officer Manraj Singh.
