Computer, Kannada software CDs stolen

BANGALORE: A computer and CDs containing Kannada software, together worth Rs. 80,000, were stolen from a free computer training centre of the Kannada Anusthana Mandali at Malleswaram on Friday night.

The police said the miscreants gained entry into the centre by breaking the open the door. R. A. Prasad, chairman of the Mandali, has filed a complaint.

Burgled

A house in MICO Layout police station limits was burgled on Friday. Jewellery and cash, together worth Rs. 60,000, were taken away.

The police said B. Ramashastry, the house owner, and his wife, had gone to work in the morning and when they returned in the night they found the door of the house open and cash and jewellery missing.

Chains snatched

Three persons, including two women, were relieved of their gold chains in separate incidents reported in the city on Friday.

Two men who came on a motorcycle snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 30,000 from a woman in the crowded Majestic area on Friday evening.

The police said that around 6.30 p.m. the culprits snatched the chain from Latha of Hebbal, who was riding pillion with her husband on a moped. The incident occurred on Dharmambudhi Road, off Shanthala junction, when Latha's husband had stopped the vehicle at a traffic signal The Upparpet police have registered a case.

A woman returning from a function was relieved of her gold chain worth Rs. 30,000 near a wedding hall in High Grounds police station limits.

The police said Divya, the victim, was relieved of her chain while she was returning from Sindhi Kalyana Mantap.

Hanumantharaya, an elderly man and a resident of Parvatipura, was relieved of his gold chain worth Rs. 28,000 in Kalasipalya police station limits.

The police said Hanumantaraya was relieved of his chain while he was returning home in a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation bus.

Body found

The body of a gardener was found near a storm water drain in Chamarajpet police station limits on Saturday.

The police gave the name of the deceased as Rudrappa.

Two die in accidents

An unidentified man aged around 45 was killed when a lorry hit him on Hosur Road, off Garvebavipalya, around 9.30 p.m. on Friday. The body has been kept in the Victoria Hospital mortuary. The Madivala traffic police have seized the lorry and are on the lookout for the driver.

In another incident, Devaraj (26), a mechanic who was driving a scooter, was killed when a lorry hit him near Koppa Gate in Bannerghatta police station limits. His friend, Prabhu, driving pillion, was seriously injured.
