THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leader of the Opposition in Gujarat Arjun Bhai Modhwadia has said that industrial investment in his State has come down under the rule of the Chief Minister Narendra Modi, mainly on account of the policies he pursued. Participating in a meet-the-press programme organised by the Kesari Memorial Journalist Trust here on Sunday, Mr. Modhwadia said the State was slowly coming out of the trauma caused by the riots. Asked whether the Gujarati pride had been affected consequent to the U.S. Government's denial of visa to Mr. Modi, Mr. Modhwadia said that it was the other way round. Though the UPA Government supported Mr. Modi's case, the Gujarati pride was hurt on account of his policies and aggressive positions, as a result of which people had a different impression about the State. Mr. Modhwadia, who was here to attend a function organised by the Rajesh Pilot National Youth Centre, said that there was no basis to the allegations of religious conversions in the State. Mr. Modi had brought in the Anti-conversion Act and not a single case had been registered under the law so far, he said in reply to a question. Mr. Modhwadia gave the keynote address at the first Rajesh Pilot National Lecture on " Dhandi Inspiration and Indian Youth." Tourism Minister, K.C. Venugopal inaugurated the lecture series.
