Vijayashanti hints at floating new party

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: A fortnight after quitting the Bharatiya Janata Party, actress Vijayashanti has hinted at launching a political party to fight for the cause of Statehood for Telangana.

"We are launching a movement to undo the `injustice' to Telangana in the Congress and Telugu Desam regimes," she said at a meeting organised by the Telangana United Front here on Sunday.

"The movement should not stop even if bullets rain on us or jails are filled," she said, and appealed to people to join it. They should achieve Telangana at all costs this time round. It was because of the apathy of the Congress and TDP Governments that tribal women were selling children for Rs. 200. She said consecutive Governments considered people of Telangana as mere pushovers. "But this time we will show our might."
