HYDERABAD: The Communist Party of India (Maoist) central committee has said that there was no change in the June 15 deadline set for the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to severe ties with the Congress.

In the event of the TRS leaders failing to adhere to the deadline, Maoists asked the workers to quit the party and join hands with the forces fighting for creation of a separate State.

The Maoist Polit Bureau member, Prakash, in a statement issued here on Sunday clarified that the party never said it would resort to physical attacks on the TRS leaders and cadres, if they failed to severe links with the Congress.

The Maoist leader pointed out that the party had only given a call to the people to drive away the TRS leaders as they had failed to keep up their promise of making the separate State a reality. The leaders were clinging to power despite the Congress leaders opposing a separate State.

After assuming power by deceiving the voters, the TRS leaders have forgotten the promises and were taking people for a ride. .

Prakash justified the criticism of the TRS saying that the people had the right to confront them if they betray the cause of Telangana.

"The Maoists and the People's Liberation Guerrilla Army (PGLA) will teach a fitting lesson to the betrayers," he pointed out.

He said the Congress Government had no right to blame the Maoists of restricting the freedom of expression of political parties as the ruling party was resorting to repression, State sponsored violence and imposing restrictions on the activities of the revolutionary party.

He took a dig at the Congress, the Telugu Desam Party and the Communist Party of India (CPI) for terming the actions of the Maoists as `undemocratic'.
