TDP leader's challenge on temple lands

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Party leader, S. Venugopalachari, has offered to quit politics if he was unable to prove the compliance of ruling party leaders in the irregularities pertaining to sale of temple lands.

At a press conference here on Sunday, he reiterated his party's demand for a probe by a sitting judge into the endowments scam.

In addition, the TDP demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation, supervised by a judge of either the High Court or the Supreme Court.

"Most political parties have been making similar demands which have simply fallen on deaf ears. If we cannot prove our allegations all those TDP leaders making allegations will quit politics," he said waving a bunch of copies of Government orders pertaining to temple land deals in the recent past.
