Woman kills 3 children, attempts suicide

KHAMMAM:
A woman threw her three children into a canal and made a vain attempt to end her life by jumping into the same near Kinnerasani project in Palvancha police station limits on Sunday. According to reports, Ch. Majula, 28, who attended a function at Guntur on Saturday, resorted to the desperate act on her way to her village. She removed her ornaments and handed them over to an autorickshaw driver.
Manjula walked down to the project with the three girls - Niharika, 8, Mounika, 6 and one-year-old Gouri -- and threw them into the canal. She also jumped into the canal, but onlookers saved her. Their efforts to save the children proved futile. Manjula was allegedly being tortured by her in laws and her husband, Narasimha Rao, after she gave birth to a girl the third time. The Palvancha police registered a case and started investigation.
