SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Government has aligned with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to hold a series of meetings across the country to showcase the strengths and opportunities that the State of Himachal Pradesh has to offer, especially in the light of the new industrial policy of the State. Disclosing this a Chamber spokesman said here on Sunday that the Chief Minister, Virbhadra Singh, would lead an 18 member team comprising the concerned officers for interacting with industrial leaders at various places. The CII has partnered with the Government of Himachal Pradesh for drawing up an action plan with a vision to develop Himachal as a global industrial and tourist destination in an eco-friendly manner with enhanced and intensive participation from both private as well as public sector. In addition, a major focus area has been to develop food processing, Bio-technology Tourism, Information technology, Floriculture, Sericulture, Power, Pharmaceutical and Entertainment as growth drivers for the socio-economic development of the State, said the spokesman.
New policy
The first road show in south will start from 13 June in Hyderabad followed by another in Chennai the next day and in Bangalore on June 15. In the last three years, Himachal Pradesh has been able to attract investment proposals to the tune of Rs. 9,000 crores and work on several projects have already started, according to the CII. The New Industrial Policy of the state was announced recently. Revival of sick units, reforms, planning and development of new industrial areas, land allotment policy, simplification of rules and regulations, policy for development of entertainment industry by development of multiplex complexes were some of the prominent features of the policy document.
