THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the State Government having decided to introduce the grading system at the Higher Secondary level, the State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) is organising a training programme for teachers of the vocational higher secondary schools. It is meant to train teachers on the various aspects of continuous evaluation and the grading process, according to E.Valsalakumar, director, SCERT.A workshop organised to draw up an action plan and to revise the curriculum in 41 vocational subjects and two non-vocational subjects, management and general foundation, is now underway here, he said. The source books and approach paper for continuous evaluation and grading will also be finalised at the workshop. Source books for 49 subjects are in the final stages of preparation, the director added.The training programme has been scheduled to start on June 14. It will initially cover the teachers of the higher secondary schools and those of non-vocational subjects in the vocational higher secondary schools. The other teachers of vocational higher secondary schools will undergo the training once the source books in their subjects are ready. The source books and the textbooks, which are to be published by the SCERT in Malayalam, English, Hindi and Arabic, for Plus One class, will be ready for release this month, he said.
