Coaching for Economic Service examination

Educational aid distributed

Thiruvananthapuram: The Mata Amritanandamayi Math has distributed clothes and educational aids such as books, instrument boxes and stationery to the children living in the tsunami-affected areas of Alappad. The beneficiaries were the 30,000-odd students who attended the yoga, spoken English and personality development camp conducted earlier at Amritapuri. Minister for Tourism K.C. `Defeat communal forces'

Thiruvananthapuram: Leader of Opposition in Gujarat Arjun Bhai Modhwadia has urged youngsters to defeat all the communal and sectarian forces that are attempting to divide the nation. Mr. Medvadiya was speaking at a lecture organised by the Rajesh Pilot National Youth Centre. He expressed his grief at the communal violence that took place in Gujarat. Environment awareness through magic

Thiruvananthapuram: A seminar on environmental awareness, through the medium of magic, organised by the Academy of Magical Sciences, was inaugurated by the noted poet Sugathakumari in the city on Sunday. Sugathakumari expressed anguish at the lack of concern among the public when it comes to environmental issues. She hoped that magic would become a valuable medium for disseminating messages on environment to the students. A magic show will be held at SMV School auditorium on June 16 by Gopinath Muthukad as a follow-up to the seminar. — Staff Reporter

Workshop held

Thiruvananthapuram: A continuing medical education programme on keyhole cataract surgery, organised by Chakrabarti Eye Care Centre, was held here on Sunday.

Over 100 ophthalmic surgeons from across the State took part in the programme.
