Uniform calling rate likely, says Maran

NEW DELHI: The Union Communications and Information Technology Minister, Dayanidhi Maran, on Tuesday said the country was moving towards an all-India uniform calling rate. In other words, the charges for making a call would be the same irrespective of the distance. "We will have `One India.' Calling within the country will be like calling within the State,'' he said but declined to say whether the "death of distance'' would lead to all calls being charged at local rates.
