This Day That Age
A 1500-mile flight from Tbilisi across Central Asia brought Prime Minister Nehru to Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, on June 14. The trip gave Mr. Nehru an opportunity to have an aerial view of the Azerbaijan Republic, the Baku oilfields and the Caspian Sea. Closely following the railway line from Krasnovoksk on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, which traversed practically to the Far Eastern Republics of the Soviet Union, Mr. Nehru had a glimpse of the Central Asian desert. At Ashkabad, capital of Turkmenistan, where the plane had to re-fuel, the refreshments served to the visitors proved that the birthplace of several favourite dishes in North India like Peshawari Tori, Kababs and Pulau is Central Asia.
