This Day That Age
Mr. G.V. Mavlankar, Speaker of the Lok Sabha and Chairman of the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, paid a visit to the Big Temple at Tanjore on June 14 and worshipped at the shrine of Sri Bhrihadeeswara. On arrival at the temple, he was received by Sri Raja Ram Raja Saheb, the Senior Prince, Tanjore, hereditary trustee of the temple. Mr. Mavlankar later worshipped at the Sri Kamakshi Amman temple, West Main Street. He spent a considerable time in going round the Saraswathi Mahal Library and evinced keen interest in the ancient palm leaf manuscripts that are being preserved there.
