ERODE: A boy hailing from a poor family was given a free seat in Erode Sengunthar Engineering College, Thudupathy.

K. Prabhagaran, son of a textile worker C. Kandasamy of Koolamooppan Thottam near Vijayamangalam, studied in Vijayamangalam Government Higher Secondary School and obtained 1,123 marks out of 1200 in the recent examination.

He also wrote the Common Entrance Test and got 253.41 marks. His financial condition prevented him from joining college.

Learning about this, the college correspondent, J. Sudhanandhen, admitted him in the Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering stream of the college.

Mr. Sudhanandhen said that no fees would be collected from the boy and all possible help would be given for his four-year study in the college.
