ERODE: Hundreds of men and women belonging to DMK, MDMK, PMK, Congress, CPI, CPI(M) and Indian Union Muslim League staged a demonstration on Wednesday in front of the Erode Municipal Office, demanding reinstatement of dismissed road workers. They also appealed for distribution of PDS goods to ration card holders. The DMK former Minister, N.K.K. Periyasamy, led the demo, which was attended by the former DMK Minister Pon Muthuramalingam, district DMK secretary N.K.K.P. Raja, district MDMK secretary A. Ganesamurthy, Dharmapuri PMK MLA Pari Mohan, State vice-president of PMK Ramanathan, CPI district secretary N. Periyasamy, State CPI executive member P.L. Ramachandran, Erode district CPI(M) secretary P. Marimuthu, State Council Member S. Durairaj, Erode District Congress Committee president R.M. Palanisamy, C.S. Gowthaman, Ee Ve Ra Thirumgan (son of Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry E.V.K.S. Elangovan), and IUML District president Iqbal. Due to the demonstration, traffic on Brough Road from Paneerselvam Park to RDO office was affected.
