ERODE: The district administration has prepared a detailed project report for an estimate of Rs.8.13 crores for provision of basic amenities like water supply, group housing, roads and schools in Bargur, Thalawady and Sathyamangalam hill areas, the Collector, D. Karthikeyan, said. At the mass contact day at Thamaraikarai in Bargur forest on Wednesday, the Collector said that if the Government sanctioned the amount, all infrastructural facilities would be made available in the three forest areas. Of this amount, Rs. 2.60 crores was proposed to be spent on Bargur, Nagalure and Sankarapalayam tribal settlements. The Collector received 272 petitions on Wednesday. Officials had already received 300 petitions earlier. The Collector distributed aid to the tune of Rs.5 lakhs to the tribals. Catchment areas in Bargur and other water sources would be developed at a cost of Rs.3 crores. A detailed report on this had been sent to the Government for sanction. Among those who participated were the Gobichettipalayam Sub Collector, C. Samayamurthy, Anthiyur Panchayat Union Chairman E.M.R. Rajan and District Adi Dravida Welfare Officer, M. Sivalingam.
