PONDICHERRY: The Andhra Pradesh Government will enhance allocation of water from the Godavari canal system to Yanam (an enclave of Pondicherry Union Territory in East Godavari District) from 19 to 30 cusecs. An order to this effect was issued in keeping with a decision taken at a meeting the Pondicherry Chief Minister had with his Andhra Pradesh counterpart on May 3. Sources said here on Wednesday that the enhanced allocation was to meet the irrigational and drinking water requirements of Yanam. The Pondicherry Administration would bear the expenditure for construction of additional storage tank, pumping arrangements and other related works.
