SHIMOGA: While Shimoga taluk recorded 317.1 mm rainfall from January 1 to June 14, the highest in the district, the lowest rainfall for the corresponding period was recorded in Sorab taluk at 82.4 mm. These taluks had recorded 392.4 mm and 402.2 mm respectively for the corresponding period last year as against the normal rainfall of 262.6 mm and 396.4 mm for this period. The taluk-wise rainfall from January 1 to June 14 is (the rainfall for the corresponding period last year is given in brackets): Bhadravati - 139.6 (241.4 mm); Hosnagar - 135.4 mm (891.8 mm); Sagar - 171.6 mm (438.2 mm); Shikaripur - 276.1 mm (398.2 mm); Shimoga - 317.1 mm (392.4 mm); Sorab - 82.4 mm (402.2 mm) and Tirthahalli - 100.6 mm (610.4 mm). All the seven taluks have recorded less rainfall in the first six months of the current year compared to the corresponding period last year. The worst affected taluk is Tirthahalli, which has received only 100.6 mm as against 610.4 mm recorded last year.
