Protest march against VAT

PATHANAMTHITTA: Ex-servicemen in the district, under the banner of the Kerala Ex-services League (KEL), took out a march to the Civil Station here on Wednesday protesting against the State Government decision, making Value Added Tax (VAT) applicable to all items sold at military canteens.

The march, which began from the KSRTC junction, was led by KEL district president V.K.Mathew; secretary M.M.Mathew; vice-president S.K. Thyagarajan and treasurer Balakrishna Pillai.

The dependents of ex-servicemen also participated in the march. A dharna was also held before the Collectorate later.
