KOLLAM: The Viswakarma Service Society, Tamil Viswakarma Samooham and the Viswa Brahmana Samooham have merged to form a new organisation. The name of the organisation is Viswakarma Aikya Vedi. Chairman of the Vedi P.N. Janardhanan Achary and general secretary V.P. Bhaskara Karma announced this at a press conference here on Wednesday. Mr. Karma said that Viswakarmas constituted 12 per cent of the population in the State. Although traditional craftsmen, they did not enjoy any of the benefit of the labour laws. Successive Governments had only ignored the problems and demands of the community.
