THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The monsoon has been weak over Kerala so far, with only 179.2 mm of rain being received as against a normal of 308.9 mm from June 1 till 15, making for a deficiency of 42 per cent. The Met authorities here said active conditions had prevailed on June 6, following which the system had weakened. "By this time, we should have got two or three low pressure systems over the Bay, but that has not happened," director-in-charge G. P. Bhaskaran Nair told The Hindu. He said the monsoon had covered the whole of the State by June 6 and advanced up to Goa by June 8. There had not been any further northerly movement after that and the cross-equatorial flow of monsoon winds had weakened.
