CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, said here on Wednesday that a one-man Commission of Inquiry headed by a sitting or retired Judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court would be appointed under the Commission of Inquiry Act to look into the recruitments made to set up the Haryana State Industrial Security Force by the erstwhile Om Prakash Chautala Government.
MLAs' demand
Talking to media persons here, Mr. Hooda said he had decided to set up the Commission of Inquiry following demands by MLAs in the House. He disclosed that the Government would request the Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court to appoint a sitting or retired Judge to head the Commission. The terms of reference would be framed within a day or two and it would be asked to submit its report within six months. He confirmed that the former Director General of Police, M.S.Malik, currently posted as Officer-on-Special Duty (Rules) had been suspended late on Tuesday night for his alleged role in the setting up of the HSISF during the Chautala rule. Justifying the decision to scrap the HSISF, the Chief Minister reiterated that his predecessor had allegedly played with the future of 3,600 young men by recruiting them without following norms and that too when the Assembly elections were drawing near. Earlier, the Chief Minister announced to set up the Commission during the Zero Hour in the House, following a suggestion from party MLAs, Dharam Pal Singh Malik and Raghubir Singh Kadian, in this regard.
