MYSORE: Sleuths attached to the City Crime Branch (CCB) have arrested a resident of Hyderabad on the charge of duping a woman of her jewellery worth Rs. 1 lakh after promising to marry her. According to sources, the CCB officials arrested K. Ravichandran (32) in Hyderabad on Tuesday and recovered the jewellery that had been pledged at a pawnbroker's shop there. Sources said that the accused had promised to marry a resident of Nazarbad here after befriending her through a matrimonial website. According to sources, Ravichandran posed as a prospective bridegroom and told the woman that he was a doctor and hailed from an NRI family. After he convinced the woman about his antecedents, it is learnt that he enquired about the jewellery the family owned. Sources said that he came to Nazarbad from Hyderabad after learning that the members of the woman's family were out of station. He reportedly asked the woman to show him the jewellery. Sources said that he then asked her to get him soft drinks and took away the jewellery. He left for Hyderabad after promising to marry the woman, sources added. A case was filed with the Nazarbad police after the family found out that they had been duped. Sources said that the accused has duped several women using the same modus operandi.
