MYSORE: The State Bharatiya Janata Party Cultural Forum Convener, B.P. Manjunath, on Wednesday, alleged that thousands of children are employed in various vocations in the Narasimha Raja constituency, which is represented by the Minister of State for Labour, Tanvir Sait. Speaking to presspersons here, Mr. Manjunath said that nearly 2,500 children are employed in New Junk Yard, while more than 500 children are employed in Old Junk Yard. A large number of children are also employed in various garages and other units in the constituency. He said that though the Minister claimed that steps are being taken to eradicate child labour, no efforts have been made in that direction. He said that the BJP will help the Minister eradicate child labour. Mr. Manjunath said that development works have been ignored in the Minister's constituency. Mr. Sait is yet to open an office to hear grievances even after one year. He said that the BJP will demand a White Paper on the developmental works in the constituency.
Minister's visit
Mr. Sait, on Wednesday, visited Rammanahalli in Rajiv Nagar III Stage where the construction of 1,200 Ashraya houses has been taken up. He inspected the works and said that the water connection has been provided. He said that the work on underground drainage system and laying of roads is underway, and power connection will be provided before the beneficiaries move into the houses.
