MYSORE: The mortal remains of a 24-year-old soldier of the Maratha Light Infantry, N. Sundar, who was killed in the bomb blast at Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, arrived in Mysore on Wednesday evening. The coffin bearing Sundar's body, draped in the tricolour, was kept on the premises of the Government Guest-house, where full State honours, including a 21-gun salute, were accorded. Sundar was a native of Magge in H.D. Kote taluk of Mysore district. Senior officials of the district administration placed wreaths on Sundar's body and the last post was sounded as the 21-gun salute rang in the air. The gathering observed a minute's silence as armed constables lowered the guard as a mark of respect. The coffin was then taken to Magge. Sundar's colleague, Anand, hailing from Hebbala in K.R. Nagar taluk of Mysore district, accompanied the cortege from Kashmir. The body was flown to Bangalore in an aircraft and reached Mysore by road. Sundar, son of D. Nagesh and Mahadevamma of Magge village, had been serving the Maratha Light Infantry for the past six years. He was among the personnel posted for duty near the school at Pulwama, where a car bomb blast claimed several lives on Monday. Sundar was among three soldiers killed in the blast.
