CHANDIGARH: In a major swoop, vigilance sleuths in Punjab today arrested two police officials, a bank manager and an ITI instructor on charges of demanding and accepting bribes in separate incidents. Sukhdev Singh, a manager with the Primary Co-operative Agricultural Development Bank in Sangrur district was arrested while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a person for helping him in a loan case, a spokesman of the Vigilance Bureau said here. While Sub-Inspector of Police Jagir Singh was arrested from Harirgarh area of Sangrur for accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500, Head Constable Gurdial Singh, posted at Mohrewala Police Chowki in Ferozepur district, was caught taking Rs 2000 from a complainant, he said. According to the spokesman, Balkar SIngh, an Instructor at ITI Patiala was caught while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a student for adjusting his attendence shortages.
