NEW DELHI: : The Delhi Power Minister, Haroon Yusuf, on Tuesday said people in the Capital would have to pay more for electricity from July 1. "Though the hike would not be very sharp as being reported in various sections of the media, people will have to bear some extra financial burden," he observed. Stating that it was up to the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) to decide on the issue and fix a new tariff structure, the Power Minister said the matter had been discussed with the Commission. "We have conveyed the concerns to the DERC on the issue," he said. It is learnt that the DERC has decided on a hike in tariffs and is likely to announce it within a couple of days. Sources said that though the DERC had already rejected the demand of the private power distribution companies for a steep hike
