NEW DELHI: In a break from tradition, the meeting of the National Development Council (NDC), slated for June 27-28 to approve the Mid-Term Appraisal (MTA), is likely to be held in Bangalore. According to official sources, Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia has sent a note to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) seeking confirmation for the change in venue. In the event of the PMO agreeing to the proposal, it would be a history of sorts as the NDC meetings all these years have been held in the Capital. The first change has already been approved in that the NDC meeting would be spread over two days. The Commission, according to sources, is busy giving final touches to the agenda for the meeting. It would include approval of the MTA, the long pending issue of transfer of Centrally-sponsored schemes, power sector reforms and the financial health of states.
