BANGALORE: Gram panchayats and zilla panchayats are gradually making healthcare accessible in rural areas, and ayurveda and traditional medicine are gaining acceptability as complementary to allopathy, the Minister for Health and Family Welfare, N. Cheluvarayanswamy, said here on Wednesday. Speaking after felicitating eminent practitioners of alternative systems and presenting them awards, at the Government Ayurveda College, Mr. Cheluvarayaswamy said recognising the potential of integrating these systems with allopathy, the Government has decided to have Ayurvedic dispensaries in district hospitals.
More funds
The Gandhinagar MLA, Dinesh Gundu Rao, who presided over the function, said the Government has doubled the budgetary allocation for health by 100 per cent. Vacancies of medical staff and teaching staff should be filled, and the integration of systems of medicine should be speeded up to give a greater choice to the public, he added.
