Revolutionary parties call for struggle

Cadre asked to fight against `State-sponsored' repression

HYDERABAD: Leaders belonging to various revolutionary parties have underlined the need to launch a united armed struggle against what they called State-sponsored violence and growing repression.

Speakers at a public meeting organised by the Communist Party of India (ML) Janashakti here on Wednesday flayed the Congress Government for "unleashing terror tactics" and resorting to "fake encounters." They opined that the only way out was to wage a war against the State by building mass movement through people's support. They exhorted the cadre not to be cowed down by the "highhandedness" of the police.

Charge against YSR

The former Janashakti emissary during peace talks, Challapalli Srinivasa Rao, alleged that the Government wanted to crush the revolutionary movement.

He accused the Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, of launching an all-out offensive against extremist outfits through stepped-up combing and encounters.

The underground cadre should not get perturbed by the increasing repression and continue their struggle.

Since January 6 the police in the State had eliminated more than 100 extremists, he pointed out.

The Janashakti representative, Mukku Shankaraiah, said the Chief Minister was blindly following the World Bank diktat. People would not tolerate the "anti-people" actions of the Government, he added.

Mass movement

The CPI (ML) New Democracy representative, Sambasiva Rao, echoed the sentiments of Mr. Srinivasa Rao and said unless a strong mass movement was built, the revolutionary parties would lose their existence. He said the violence resorted by the armed cadre was an answer to similar tactics adopted by the police.

The former Maoist emissaries -- Varavara Rao, G. Kalyan Rao -- and others were present.
