MAHABUBNAGAR: The selection process for the Andhra Pradesh Special Police constable posts commenced here on Wednesday. For the 4,000 constable posts in the district, over 80 per cent aspirants are from the rural areas. Among the total applicants over 60 per cent candidates are graduates though minimum qualification required for the post is tenth class. According to a police officer who is overseeing the selection process, there are a good number of postgraduates and law graduates among the applicants. This is indicates that rural educated youth are in dire need of employment, he said. The selection of the candidates will through three stages: the 5-km running test, physical test and finally the written test. The first stage of running test began on Wednesday in which over 800 candidates participated. The Superintendent of Police, Vikram Singh Mann, oversaw the selection of candidates. The SP said that the running test would be conducted for three days and if necessary it would be extended to five days.
