UDUPI: The Tourism Minister and district in charge, D.T. Jayakumar, will be in Udupi from Saturday to Monday. A press release issued here said Mr. Jayakumar will arrive in Udupi at 12.30 p.m. on Saturday. He will participate in a blood donation camp being organised by the Yuva Janata Dal (Secular) at the district government hospital here. He will then preside over a meeting to discuss the reopening of the Brahmavar Sugar Factory, at the Deputy Commissioner's Office here at 1.30 p.m. The Minister will participate in a function organised by the Department of Public Instruction to felicitate meritorious students at the Town Hall at 2.30 p.m. He will then participate in a taluk-level officers meeting at Karkala in Udupi district at 3.30 p.m. At 5 p.m. he will participate in the Karkala taluk-level Janata Dal (S) workers convention at 5 p.m. He will spend the night in Udupi. On Sunday, the Minister will receive petitions from people at the Janata Dal (S) office in Udupi. He will inspect the collapsed bridge at Barkur near Brahmavar at 3 p.m. and participate in the taluk-level Janata Dal (S) workers' convention in Kundapur at 5 p.m. Mr. Jayakumar will visit areas facing the threat of sea erosion near Kaup at 9.30 a.m. on Monday. He will leave Kaup for Bangalore at 1.30 p.m., the release added.
