CHENNAI: A team of officials headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pulianthope, conducted raids in different parts of the city and seized 9.5 kg of ganja on Tuesday. According to a press release, the team raided a house in West Namachivayapuram, Choolaimedu, and seized the contraband. The police are on the lookout for the resident of the house, Subbammal. Similar raids were conducted on Cemetery Road, T.P.Chatram; Gopalsamy Nagar, Chetput; Gengu Reddy Subway, Egmore and VOC Street, Ennore. Five persons including a 55-year-old woman were arrested during the raid and remanded to judicial custody. The raids were conducted following specific information received by Greater Chennai Commissioner of Police R. Nataraj.
Video piracy
The Video Piracy Cell of the CBCID conducted a raid in Kathivakkam near Ennore on Tuesday and seized 7,608 pirated VCDs and DVDs of recently released Tamil movies including Chandramukhi, Mumbai Xpress, Kanaa Kandaen and Sachien. Two persons, have been arrested in this connection.
