PATNA: Sleuths of the Customs (Preventive) Commissionerate on Wednesday seized four tiger skins from a hotel here. According to Chief Commissioner S.K. Singhal, the skins were being smuggled from Nepal to Varanasi and commanded an international price ranging from $10,000 to $20,000 each. The length of the skins ranged from 43.5 to 48 inches indicating that the slain tigers were young. The Customs Department has informed the Forest Department officials of the seizure. No arrest has been made in connection with the seizure as the suspected smuggler, who had checked into the hotel, did not turn up. Officials were checking his antecedents in Nepal.
