Summons issued

KOCHI: The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate has issued summons to the six accused in a case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the Telgi fake stamp-paper scam.

They were directed to appear before the court on October 10.

The CBI had filed charge-sheets against M.K. Bhageerathan, K. Feroz, Shameer, Mohammed Ali, N.K. Prasad and Ramanujam in the case. — Staff Reporter

Power shutdown

KOCHI: Power supply in Thammanam, Gandhi Jayanti Road, May First Road, Karanakodam and Draupadi Road will be disrupted between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday owing to maintenance work, according to an official communication. — Staff Reporter

Dharna today

KOCHI: The Fisheries Coordination Committee will organise a dharna in front of the Ernakulam Telephone Exchange on Thursday morning, raising demands such as imposing a ban on foreign trawlers, opening an auction centre for fish workers at Vallarpadom and abandoning the move to import fish.

Competition

KOCHI: The Ernakulam Public Library is organising a short-story reading competition for higher secondary and college students on Sunday morning at the Library Hall. There will be separate competitions in English and Malayalam. The duration of the contest is 10 minutes.

The first prize will carry Rs. 301 and the second prize Rs. 201. Students must register their names before 6 p.m. on Saturday. Details may be had on 2355491, or 2351894. — Staff Reporter
