Resting places to be set up

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Resting places will be set up on the premises of court for lawyers, advocate clerks and clients, said K.M. Mani, Minister for Revenue. The funds required for setting up the facilities on the court premises will be provided from the Kerala Legal Aid Fund, Mr. Mani said while speaking at a function at the Durbar Hall today. — Staff Reporter

Digital film festival

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: British Council and Ekaa Films will organise the Third 0110 Digital Film Festival 2005. The festival provides a platform for filmmakers and artistes who wish to experiment with alternate forms of filmmaking. The last date for submitting the entries is June 20. Sandalwood theft

Thiruvananthapuram: The Rural police have arrested two persons in connection with a series of sandalwood tree thefts in the district.

Circle Inspector, Parassala, P. Reghu identified the accused as Manikantan alias Selvaraj and Saji. They were produced before the court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody. — Staff Reporter

Chain snatching

Thiruvananthapuram: The Fort police have arrested two youth in connection with a series of chain snatching incidents in the city. Circle Inspector, Fort, T.F. Xaviour identified the accused as Unni and Arun. They were produced before the court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody. — Staff Reporter

Youth held

Thiruvananthapuram: The Poonthura police have arrested a 35-year-old youth on the charge of waylaying pedestrians. The accused was identified as Sabarinath. He was produced before the court and remanded to 14 days in judicial custody. — Staff Reporter

Students arrested

Thiruvananthapuram: The city police have arrested 14 students, including a girl, of the ITI Attingal, for barging into the office of the Director of the Employment Training Centre near Thycaud in Museum police station limits on Wednesday. According to the police, the students, who were protesting against the irregular supply of electricity to the ITI buildings, locked the director inside his room. The police later arrested the students and produced them before the court. — Staff Reporter
