Factory staff assaulted, vehicle taken away

BANGALORE: Two men assaulted a garment factory employee in the Madivala Police Station limits in the early hours of Wednesday and drove away on his motorcycle.

The police said that around 12.30 a.m., two men waylaid Kuppuswamy near the Government Primary School at Singasandra on Hosur Road.

After assaulting Kuppuswamy, a resident of Channakeshavanagar on Hosur Road, they drove away on his motorcycle. The Madivala Police have registered a case.

Bag snatched

A youth snatched a vanity bag containing Rs. 1,000, a mobile phone and documents from Rajeshwari, an advocate, in the Koramangala Police Station limits on Tuesday.

The police said the incident occurred around 7.30 p.m. on 14th Cross, 23rd Main, HSR Layout, when Rajeshwari was walking towards her house. The Koramangala Police have registered a case.

Suicide

Ravi (35), a construction worker and father of a five-year-old boy, committed suicide by hanging himself at his house on 2nd Cross, Pillanna Block in R.T. Nagar Police Station limits on Tuesday.

The police said Ravi committed suicide after his wife, Madhu, chided him for not going to work regularly. The R.T. Nagar Police have registered a case.

Fire in shop

Fire broke out at a fancy articles shop in a commercial complex in 3rd Block, Jayanagar, around 10.30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The police said goods worth Rs. 50,000 were gutted. Three fire tenders put out the fire that was reportedly caused by electric short-circuit. The Jayanagar Police have registered a case.

Weapons seized

The Jayanagar Traffic Police on Tuesday night seized lethal weapons that were being transported in a car by six persons.

The police said that around 8.45 p.m. the Jayanagar Traffic Sub-Inspector, Sreenivasaiah, who was checking vehicles near Aurobindo Circle in 5th Block, Jayanagar, saw a car with a defective number plate.

When he tried to stop the car, the driver tried to speed away. Mr. Sreenivasaiah and two constables ran behind the car and stopped it.

On seeing the police, six men who were in the car jumped out of it and ran away, the police said.

They seized the car and seven swords and a dagger that were in it. The police suspect the six men were planning to commit dacoity. The Jayanagar police have registered a case.

The Commissioner of Police, Ajai Kumar Singh, has awarded Rs. 5,000 to Mr. Sreenivasaiah and constables, B.N. Ranga Rao and Shivanna.

Man dies

A man aged around 45 was killed when a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus hit him on K.R. Road around 9.15 a.m. on Tuesday. The Chamarajpet Traffic Police arrested the driver and seized the bus. The body is in the Victoria Hospital mortuary.

Seized

Officials of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) on Tuesday raided a shop in Koramangala Police Station limits and seized 2,240 pirated VCDs and DVDs worth Rs. 4.18 lakhs.

The police arrested Venkatesh (20) and S. Manjunath (19) in this connection. The seized VCDs and DVDs are of English movies, the police said.
