HYDERABAD: The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad Commissioner, Sanjay Jaju, has assured that he will take up the issue of providing 100 per cent compensation to those affected by road-widening with the Government. Talking to a delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party's city unit led by its president, Venkataramani, and the Deputy Mayor, Subash Chanderji, on Wednesday, Mr. Jaju agreed to consider spending money collected towards taxes under self-assessment in respective areas. He pointed out he had taken up delegating powers of sanctioning smaller works to the zonal Commissioners concerned. This would ensure that the works proposed in the ward committees were taken up and completed at a faster pace. Referring to the maintenance of community halls, he said neighbourhood committees could be formed either in slums or by the colony welfare associations for taking up the task. The same method could be followed for maintenance of parks for which such a scheme was already in existence.
Flyover works
Flyover works would be taken up on fast track. A campaign would be taken to see that a percolation pit and a tree are put up in each and every house. The BJP leaders brought to the Commissioner's notice the inordinate delays in the construction of Jamai-e-Osmania and Seetaphalmandi flyovers. They also sought 100 per cent compensation as per market rate and also extra floor space index to make road-widening exercise more smooth and setting up more high mast lamps. While appreciating the move to put the tax defaulters' list on the corporation website, they wanted the names to be released to the media.
