One more CRPF battalion for State soon: DGP
|
HYDERABAD:
Chief Secretaries, Directors-General of Police, Home Secretaries and intelligence chiefs of 13 States would be attending the scheduled meeting of the coordination committee to chalk out strategies to deal with Left-wing extremist activities here on June 17.
The DGP, Swaranjit Sen, told reporters here on Wednesday that there were no two opinions among naxalite-affected States on the initiative taken by the State Government to hold talks with the naxalite groups.
"While the States have distinct borders, the Maoists do not. Hence, the police have to face challenges and find ways and means to deal with such specific law and order-related problems," he added. On the threats held out by naxalite groups, Mr. Sen said all SPs had been asked to take necessary steps in dealing with such situations. Efforts by the police had begun yielding results and this was evident when villagers in Warangal district revolted against naxals, he added. He said the State would get one more CRPF battalion in addition to four already sanctioned.
