Eight units of KTPS trip; supply hit
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD:
Eight of the 10 units of Kothagudem Thermal Power Station tripped on Wednesday evening when a tower of 220-KV transmission line near Budidampadu in Khammam district collapsed.
Power supply to parts of Khammam and Nalgonda districts was affected. The disruption was widespread because the conductor wire of the transmission line between the Kothagudem complex and the Budidampadu, to which the collapsed tower belonged, fell on another high voltage transmission line passing towards Miryalaguda beneath. The grid lost 1,000 MW from Kothagudem alone due to this tripping. Efforts were being made to resume the tripped units. An APTransco official said both the transmission lines would be restored in two to three days.
