TDP comments on political advisor irks Congress

Special Correspondent

`Telugu Desam ideologically bankrupt'

HYDERABAD: The Congress Legislative Party (CLP) and the PCC reacted angrily to the TDP allegations against the political advisor to the Government, K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, on Wednesday.

About 20 MLAs and chairpersons of corporations and former MLAs, led by the Government Chief Whip, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, the Whip, S. Udaya Bhanu, and the MLA, V. Vasantha Kumar, said the TDP had become ideologically bankrupt.

Having lost political direction and unable to perform its role as a responsible Opposition, it was resorting to mudslinging every day, they said.

The charge that Dr. Ramachandra Rao was interfering in the day-to-day administration was baseless as he was duly discharging his duty as political advisor, they said.

Referring to the TDP leader, Kodela Siva Prasada Rao's allegations in this regard, they said he was least qualified to comment against Dr. Rao, given his alleged violent credentials.

`Extra-constitutional'

Referring to the mention of Dr. Rao as an `extra-Constitutional authority' by the TDP, they recalled the subservience of the TDP leaders to Lakshmi Parvathi in the past when N.T. Rama Rao was in power.

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) secretary, R. Padmaraju, in a statement challenged the Telugu Desam Party leader to prove his charges or quit politics.
