YSR agrees to regularise encroached Government lands

Special Correspondent

Chief Minister holds meet, classifies the encroached lands into 3 categories

HYDERABAD: The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has agreed, in principle, to extend deadline for regularisation of encroached Government lands in all municipal areas which were occupied prior to 1990.

The last date had been extended by one year till March 31 next, a press release from the Chief Minister's office issued here on Wednesday said. The Chief Minister at a review meeting agreed to accept fresh representations from such individuals who have occupied Government lands before 1990 but did not avail themselves of the facility of regularisation.

Dr. Reddy classified the encroached lands into three categories. If the encroached areas were up to 500 square yards, it would be regularised by charging the market value on basic value of 1995. For lands between 500 to 1,000 square yards, the fee would be 50 per cent of the current basic value. For areas more than 1,000 square yards the regularisation amount would be current basic value.

However, regularisation of 80 square yards in municipal corporations, 100 square yards in municipalities and 120 square yards in panchayats and notified gram panchayats would be done free of cost.

The Chief Commissioner of Land Administration would be chairman of the regularisation committee in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy districts while Collectors would act as chairmen of the district committees.

The committee would scrutinise all cases of regularisation and decide whether the encroachments should be regularised or not. Presently there are as many as 1,038 cases pending for regularisation in Hyderabad district measuring 30 acres and 2,074 acres in Ranga Reddy district.

The Special Chief Secretary, Revenue, V. P. Jauhari, Special Chief Secretary and CCLA, T. K. Dewan, Secretary to CCLA, Suresh Chandra, Director Survey and Settlements, Vinod Kumar Agarwal, Hyderabad Collector, Arvind Kumar and Ranga Reddy Collector, L. Premachandra Reddy attended the meeting.
