NEW DELHI: Lady Irwin College has got yet another first to its credit. Beginning from September this year, the College plans to start two vocational courses through distant mode of education. These courses are Educational Guidance & Counselling and Nutrition & Health Education. The office may be contacted for the exact dates for the same. "We are a brand in education," said Anupa Siddhu, Director, Lady Irwin College. "We evolve our own syllabus, and other universities and colleges follow it. With linkages with foreign universities like Michigan State University, and an exchange programme for post-graduate students, our students find immediate placements with several organisations and NGOs of national and international repute," added Dr. Siddhu. The new Home Science curriculum devised by the College offers opportunities for specialisation in five streams - food and nutrition, human development, fabric and apparel science, resource management, and communication and extension. "The College also offers a course in B. Ed. (Home Science) and almost every school in and around the city would have at least one teacher trained by us," said Renu Malviya, Reader and convenor of the PR Committee.
