Fake health drinks unit unearthed

NEW DELHI: A factory producing fake health drinks was unearthed at Samaipur Badli in North-West Delhi on Wednesday. The factory owner and his manager were arrested. Acting on a tip-off that some miscreants were producing fake health drinks and selling it in the name of a Singapore-based company, the police mounted a raid on the factory and recovered 4,000 packed boxes bearing the label "Glucose-D", 300 kg of spurious glucose powder and around 48,000 empty boxes. The police also recovered 32,000 packed boxes bearing the sticker of "Glucose Sandoz".

Satellite phone recovered

NEW DELHI: A passenger who arrived by a Dubai flight at Indira Gandhi International Airport here on Wednesday evening was arrested after the Customs Department found a satellite phone in his luggage during a routine check in the cargo section. He was later handed over to the Special Cell of the Delhi police.

Mohammad Amin arrived at the international airport around 7-30 p.m. The Customs officials intercepted him after they discovered that he had brought a satellite phone in his luggage. Subsequently, the local police and the Central Industrial Security Force were informed.

After a brief questioning, Amin was handed over to the Special Cell for further probe.

Man falls to his death

New Delhi: In a freak accident, an engineer died after falling off from the parapet of his house in west Delhi today while hanging out some clothes to dry. His wife also fell while trying to save him and was in a serious condition, police said. Mukesh (38) had gone onto the parapet of the three-storey building this morning when his foot slipped and he fell to the ground below. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died, police said. His wife Santosh (36) also fell while trying to save him and was hospitalised in a critical condition.

Arrested for murders

NEW DELHI: A person allegedly involved in over 15 cases of murder and robbery in Mumbai has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police at Nizamuddin railway station here. A country-made firearm and two live cartridges were allegedly recovered from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off that Intzaar Khan, a member of the Ayub Chikna gang of Mumbai, would come to Nizamuddin railway station, the police laid a trap and arrested him.

During interrogation, Intzaar allegedly disclosed that he was a resident of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. He received his primary education from Islamia School and due to financial problems started working at tyre shops. In 1993, he met a Mumbai-based criminal, Hussain, who took him under his wings.
