Isolated rain in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Rainfall occurred at most places over Kerala and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Telangana and coastal Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh and interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over Rayalaseema.

Thodupuzha (Idukki dt.) recorded a heavy rainfall of 11 Centimetres

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in Centimetres are: Kasargod and CIAL Kochi 5 each, Medak, Vadakancherry and Kunnamkulam (both Thrissur dt.), Kottayam, Aluva (Ernakulam dt.) and Tiruvalla (Pathanamthitta dt.) 4 each, Kuzhithurai (Kanyakumari dt.), Ponnani (Malapuram dt.), Chalakudi and Enamackal (both Thrissur dt.), Alupuzha, Mavelikkara and Cherthala (both Alapuzha dt.), Punalur and Aminidivi 3 each, Thovalai (Kanyakumari dt.), Kothagiri (Nilgiris dt.), Hyderabad airport, Quilandy (Kozhikode dt.), Manjeri (Malapuram dt.), Kannara (Thrissur dt.), Pattambi (Palakkad dt.), Kochi airport, Perumbavur (Ernakulam dt.), Kayamkulam, Chengannur and Haripad (all Alupuzha dt.), Kumarakom (Kottayam dt.), Varkala (Thiruvananthapuram dt.), Minicoy, Belgaum airport, Panambur and Karwar 2 each and Uthagamandalam, Kannur, Vadakara (Kozhikoe dt.), Kozhikode airport, Paravur (Ernakulam dt.), Thiruvananthapuram, Thiruvananthapuram airport and Jayapura (Chickmagalur dt.) 1 each.

On Wednesday, severe heat wave conditions prevailed over parts of Telangana and central parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.

The maximum temperature rose markedly at one or two places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, rose appreciably at one or two places over rest south coastal Andhra Pradesh, north interior Karnataka, rose at one or two places over Telangana, Rayalaseema, Kerala, south Tamil Nadu, fell at one or two places over coastal Karnataka and changed little elsewhere over the region.

Bhadrachalam, Bapatla and Kammam recorded the highest maximum temperature of 45 degree Celsius in the region.

FORECAST (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over Kerala, Lakshadweep and coastal Karnataka and at a few places over interior Karnataka.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Andhra Pradesh.

Heavy Rainfall Warning: Isolated heavy rain is likely to occur over Kerala and Lakshadweep during the next 48 hours.

Heat Wave Warning: Severe heat wave conditions are likely to prevail over some parts of Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next two days.
