NEW DELHI: Woman Grandmaster-candidate Tania Sachdev finished a creditable sixth, following her final round draw with Zdenko Stupavsky in the First Saturday chess tournament in Budapest on Tuesday. A day after making her final WGM norm, Tania took a short draw to take her tally to five points from the 11-player round-robin competition. She stands to gain 15 rating points from this performance. Eesha Karavade put an end to her forgettable performance in the tournament by scoring a consolatory victory over Germany's Dimo Werner in the only decisive game of the final day. The Pune girl will lose about 25 rating points after managing just 2.5 points from 10 games. Earlier, Attila Czebe made sure of the title with a tally of 6.5 points. The results (11th round): Zdenko Stupavsky (Scg) drew with Tania Sachdev (Ind); Attila Jakab (Hun) drew with Attila Czebe (Hun); Ivan Farago (Hun) drew with Michael Hoffman (Ger); Eesha Karavade (Ind) bt Dimo Werner (Ger); Denes Boros (Hun) drew with William Paschall (USA); Lajos Seres (Hun) bye. Standings: 1. Czebe (6.5); 2-3. Boros, Jakab (6 each); 4-5. Farago, Paschall (5.5 each); 6-8. Tania, Seres, Hoffman (5 each); 9-10. Werner, Stupavsky (4 each); 12. Eesha (2.5).
